History of microblogging began on 1 March 2006, when the popular social network Facebook added small feature - users could write what are they doing right now. A few months later was launched a service called Twitter. In the beginning Twitter had single goal - through the exchange of short messages tell friends that you are doing now.
From a technical point of view, Twitter is simillar to IRC client and it is often referred to as SMS Service on the Internet - the length of a message is limited to 140 characters, as in a standard message SMS.
